FAQ'S Are vaccinations required? We do not require vaccinations for admission into our programs. Anyone interested in getting more information about vaccinations should contact their local public health department or consult with their health care provider. What are cosmetology school enrollment and license requirements? A Student must meet the state minimum age requirement to enter school (if applicable) and must submit the following:
A copy of a valid state or federal issued photo identification
A copy of a high school diploma or its equivalent.
A career planning interview
The required application fee
A completed enrollment package
**All incoming students must attend an orientation which will be held prior to the start of the program. During orientation the student will learn about responsibilities and standards, the format of the program, the progression of the program, and how performance will be measured. How long does it take to become a licensed cosmetologist?The Cosmetology program length will vary depending on your states required hours for licensure. Subjects include haircutting, hair coloring, facials, makeup, manicuring, salon management and much more. Upon completion of the program, the Student is qualified to take the state licensing exam. Upon successful completion of state licensing requirements, the student may seek employment as an entry-level licensed cosmetologist. How much does cosmetology cost?Tuition rates vary by program and state requirements. Students will be given tuition rates when inquiring about admission to the school of their choice. Is financial aid available for students?Currently we do not offer financial aid. However, we do have payment plans available. Your Career Planning Specialist will provide you with information about financial aid.
Do I need to pay all of my tuition up-front? No. Any remaining balance may be paid upon a monthly basis that is customizable. We try to make our education as affordable as possible to help students gain employment with little debt. We can work out a budget plan that fits your needs!
Do you offer scholarships? Yes. scholarships are available to those who qualify. During 2022 all students will qualify for scholarships but the amount may vary depending on your knowledge in the industry at the time of enrollment. There may also be grant opportunities available under certain circumstances.
What if I have taken 'beauty' classes in other states but have not finished, are those hours still good to use at Atlanta Beauty & Barber Academy? Yes, please send us your transcript through mail or fax so that we may help you become fully licensed. Our comprehensive courses ensure that you get more than enough hours to be successful in your beauty career. If you want to come in to talk to our staff with your transcript, feel free to do so.
Are we allowed to tour the school? Currently our school is not complete for tours. We will update the website when our tours begin. Once everything is complete, just give us a call to let us know of your arrival so we can accommodate your visit!
What happens after I graduate/receive a certification from the school? Do I get help? Amanda's Art of Cosmetology Institute cares about its students. We post up employer flyers that seek licensed and certified students on our "Job Board." Don't be afraid to ask for help, that is what the school is here for!
Can I go to work immediately after receiving my certificate of completion? Is that acceptable by state board? No. You must be licensed before you can start working as a professional. However, professions such as permanent makeup and hair braiding only need a certificate since state board does not regulate it. If you have any concerns, please feel free to ask one of us.
Can I use my license and training in other states outside of Georgia? I have a license form another state, could you help me apply for a Georgia license? All states have their own board of cosmetology. Most states reciprocate with GEORGIA but not all, so you may need to go to school in order to obtain those additional hours. Whatever hours is needed we can help you. Just call or come in with your license to see what you need in order to become licensed. You would have to contact the board to apply for reciprocity to obtain your license in that state. The process is fairly easy.
What if I want to get beauty services performed? You don't need to be a student to enjoy our deeply discounted beauty services. However, due to COVID-19 we will only be taking appointments. We will update the website when our clinic floor will open.
Do you report my results to the Board of Cosmetology? Each state varies. At the time of license renewal, each licensee shall certify to the State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers that he/she has completed the required continuing education. Our records are verified with the State Board of Cosmetology upon request.

I have a part-time job, how can I go to school at the same time? Our school offers a part-time educational track that is flexible for our students throughout the week. More details will become available soon on the website or simply by calling the school and having our friendly staff assist you.
Is housing available? Black Girl Beauty & Barber Schools do not offer housing, but our Admissions Representatives can provide information and apartment guides to find a place to live near the Institute.
